Consultations

MPI’s Strategy Consultations, often held at the United Nations and other prominent locations, are designed to strengthen the treaties that protect humanity from the further spread of nuclear dangers by providing a secluded, off-the-record environment for diplomats and policy makers to come to a deeper understanding of one another’s positions before returning to the formal negotiating table.

January 26-28, 2005 - The Carter Center, Atlanta
"Atlanta Consultation II: On the Future of the NPT"
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter hosted a consultation of diplomats and government officials at The Carter Center. The Consultation sought to preserve and strengthen the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) which President Carter said "was deeply wounded and whose very life is threatened."

"Ensuring Full Implementation of the Non-Proliferation Treaty."
Attended by 30 governments and 40 NGO representatives.
